Institution of Khilafat: A Lifeline for Jama`atHeart Warming Incidents with Khilafat-e-Ahmadiyya

This article will present some interesting personal instances of some Ansar brothers with Khulafa which illustrates how the prayers of the Khalifatul-Masih transcended barriers and were answered, bringing hope and comfort to the hearts of believers.

It is our firmly held belief that the Khalifatul-Masih occupies a unique and exalted spiritual position within our faith, he is divinely guided and appointed by Allah.

Although, we believe that Allah accepts prayers from all sincere believers, however, there is a special significance attached to the prayers of the Khalifatul-Masih due to his role as the spiritual leader and representative of the Promised Messiahعلیہ السلام. Khalifa has direct communion with Allah.

Dr. Hameed A. Mirza, Editor:

From our earliest years, my father instilled in us the profound belief that the prayers of Khalifatul-Masih commence the moment we put pen to paper to correspond with him. This invaluable advice has been a guiding principle in our lives, and time and again, we have witnessed its truth manifested in remarkable ways. One such instance that vividly illustrates this aspect is a letter my father wrote to Hazrat Khalifatul-Masih IIرضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ  detailing an incident that left an indelible mark on our family’s faith.

My father, Mirza Fazal-ur-Rehman Sahib (Marhoom o Maghfoor) was among the pioneer Ahmadis who joined armed forces, specifically Royal Indian Air Force. He narrated that, once Hazrat Musleh Mau’oodرضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ instructed members of Jama`at to make every effort in order to attend Jalsa Salana.  My father used to bank his vacation and would not take any vacation during the year, only he would take a week or so vacation at the time of Jalsa Salana.

On one such occasion, my father was stationed at Karachi Air Base (Masroor). As usual, he planned to attend Jalsa Salana. He submitted a leave request to the commander of his unit, stating the reason as “to attend Jalsa Salana.” However, as days passed without any response, my father decided to seek clarification. He approached the personal secretary of the commander, who advised him to directly inquire from commander himself. As a result, my father proceeded to the commander’s office to inquire about his leave request.

The officer asked my father the reason of this leave request, my father responded that I had my vacation banked and now I want to use some of it to attend our Jalsa Salana. The officer asked him how many Ahmadis are in Pakistan and if all will take leave and go to Rabwah then who will work? My father responded that Sir, I don’t know the number of Ahmadis in Pakistan but I know in our unit we are three Ahmadis, the other two are not going, only I plan to go as such it won’t effect our work. The officer responded that I will not give you leave at this time, however, in January you may have couple of months’ vacation.  My father was very upset but could not do anything.

After completing his work, my father returned home and penned a heartfelt letter to Hazrat Musleh Mau’oodرضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ. In it, he expressed his earnest efforts to fulfill Huzoor’s desire to attend Jalsa Salana, detailing the refusal of his commander to grant him leave. Feeling a sense of helplessness, my father implored Huzoorرضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ to pray that Allah include him among the fortunate ones who would be able to attend the Jalsa Salana. Upon posting the letter, he described feeling a tremendous weight lifted from his chest.

Interestingly the following day, as my father entered his office, he encountered another young officer, who had a lively chat with him, and then informed him that the unit commander has transferred him in another unit (Unit 101) with immediate effect and advised my father to report in the new unit.

My father went and reported there. He saw that there was a subordinate and a senior officer in the unit. So, the next day he wrote a fresh request to leave and went to the new unit commander’s office. He was directed by the clerk to take his leave application directly to the officer. The officer inquired why he needed vacation?

At that moment, another officer in the room interjected, informing the commanding officer about the upcoming Jalsa Salana and that the Commander of the previous unit’s refusal to grant leave. In response, the commanding officer questioned why my father had requested only six days of leave, suggesting to take ten days leave instead.

Moreover, the commanding officer advised my father to act swiftly, noting the limited time available before Jalsa Salana. He suggested my father to check for any Pakistan Air Force (PAF) flights heading to Sargodha and secure a booking on one of them. Without delay, my father approached the flying unit head and informed them of his intention to travel to Sargodha. Within a day or so, he boarded a flight to Sargodha and then proceeded to Rabwah by bus to attend the Jalsa Salana.

Following the conclusion of Jalsa Salana, the Karachi Jama`at had an opportunity to have Mulaqat with Hazrat Musleh Mau`oodرضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ .  Upon seeing my father, Hazrat Musleh Mau`oodرضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ lovingly remarked, “I just received your letter stating you wouldn’t be able to attend (Jalsa Sana), and now you’re here.” In response, my father said that Huzoor this is all due to your prayers expressing gratitude for their efficacy.

Dr Mohamed Sadiq Boodhun, Majlis Newfoundland:

I was a premedical FSC student in Karachi in 1979. I was allowed to give 10 papers (FSC 1 & 2) at once because of my A level qualifications. There was a great competition between the international Mauritian students all vying for medical seats in Pakistan. Some already had more than 90% in their FSC 1 exam. I was quite worried about my prospects of not only passing but ranking among the few best that would then qualify for medical school. As such I wrote daily to Hazrat Khalifatul-Massih IIIرحمہ اللہ تعالیٰ for his prayers. He wrote back to me and reassured me that he prayed for me. By the grace of Allah, I stood in second position with 699 marks while the first one stood with 700 marks. In this way, I later secured my medical seat at Sind Medical College in Karachi.

In 1993, I was living in San Jose. I was blessed with a Mulaqat along with my wife and two daughters, with Hazrat Khalifatul-Masih IVرحمہ اللہ تعالیٰ at the Darus Salam Mosque in Pittsburgh, California. At the end of the Mulaqat he said that since we have two daughters, we should now have a son. In 1995, we moved to Brooklyn New York and in accordance with the blessed words of Huzoor, God granted us a son whom Huzoor named Arsalan Ahmad. We were blessed with a second son in 1997. I have always remembered the blessed words of Khalifatul-Masih IVرحمہ اللہ تعالیٰ.

Mirza Saleh Baig, Majlis Barrie South:

This account vividly illustrates the power of prayer and the divine guidance provided by the Khalifa of the time.

In the aftermath of the troubling events at Rabwah Railway Station in 1974, during my initial year at the University of Karachi, tensions escalated as the Islami Jami’at e Talaba menacingly threatened Ahmadi students, vowing retribution for alleged transgressions. In the face of such hostility, the Jamaat urged us to exercise caution.

This tumultuous backdrop, my mother’s anxieties, compounded by the absence of my late father, prompted her to implore me to seek guidance from Hazrat Khalifatul-Masih IIIرحمہ اللہ تعالیٰ regarding whether to remain at the University of Karachi or transfer to the University of Punjab in Lahore. In response, Huzoorرحمہ اللہ تعالیٰ swiftly communicated his advice through respected Ameer sahib, Jama`at Karachi, reassuring me and dispelling any doubts about the necessity of relocation.

Trusting in Huzoor’s رحمہ اللہ تعالیٰ counsel and fortified by the unwavering support of prayers, we witnessed a remarkable turn of events within a remarkably short span. The very individual within the Islami Jami’at Talaba who had orchestrated threats against us suffered a severe accident, rendering him unable to continue his studies. With his influence waning, the atmosphere gradually shifted, fostering a conducive environment for Ahmadi students once more.

Rizwan Pirzadeh Sahib Majlis Abbotsford, BC:

We often correspond with Huzoor Anwarایدہ اللہ تعالیٰ بنصرہ العزیز, seeking spiritual guidance, solutions to our problems and in every matter, big or small.

My personal journey revolves around spreading the message of Islam Ahmadiyyat to the farthest corners of British Columbia and Yukon, aligning with the prophecy of Hazrat Masih Maud as, “I shall cause thy message to the corners of the world,” with our world being British Columbia. Since 2002, I have been blessed to undertake this noble cause, traveling to numerous villages and cities across the region, always writing a letter to Huzoor for prayers regarding the success of these trips.

As we navigated through the remote territories, we found ourselves facing obstacles. Our prayers were fervent as we sought assistance in resolving passport issues for two of our team members.

Despite concerns about our team members’ passport issues potentially causing complications with border authorities, we were met with an unexpected stroke of luck. The immigration computer system was malfunctioning, which inadvertently allowed all of us to pass through without any hindrance. This unexpected turn of events was nothing short of miraculous, affirming our belief in the power of the prayers of Huzoor Anwarایدہ اللہ تعالیٰ بنصرہ العزیز
